ABOUT

The name is Edgar C. I am a 14 year Army vet who realized a little late that running has been a passion of mine for the last 14 years or so. Its my place to think, blow off steam, and slow my mind down.

I started RunWithEAC with the goal of offering readers a glimpse into my journey into running and how I use it as a tool to cope with anxiety and depression. Hoping to inspire others who find it hard to deal with or aren’t as open with their experiences.

Running is also a pretty expensive hobby, so I also plan to provide the best budget equipment as I find and test the best budget accessories. Join, interact, and welcome!

Tested and Suggested Accessories

Below are the accessories I have been using that make all the difference when it comes to distracted running. These will be updated as I come across new budget items. Compared to name brands, these have help up well.

As a runner who only needs the basic features of a running watch, this does the trick and then some. Excellent battery Life, customizable watch faces and easy to use.

Tifosi Running Glasses

These polarized glasses do the trick at a great price. They do have a cheaper feel, but they hold up just fine. These also keep the sweat from running down into the eyes.

Storycoast Running Glasses

Finding the right compression shorts/underwear can be difficult. Similar brand compression shorts can range between $35 up to $75 per pair. These are great for long runs. I am able to place my phone in one pocket and car keys in the other.

Niksa Compression Shorts

Before I used headbands, I would carry a small towel with me to wipe the sweat away. For me, this was a distraction that would frustrate me, and even mess with my breathing/heart rate. These Make a huge difference in my run now.

Acozycoo Headbands

These are also a good price and work the same as the Acozycoo Headbands.

Braylin Headbands 3 pack

My pick: Running Shoes

When it comes to running shoes, I look for quality over price. The shoes you choose to run in can make the difference in injuries, shoe lifespan etc.. So this is a category that I am willing to fork over some cash. I recommend going to a running store to get a personal assessment for your best fit.

These are my first running shoes with a plate and I was impressed. By far the best running shoe I have owned. I do not recommend these for treadmill training as they are speed/race day shoes.

Priced at $180

Hoka Mach X

I chose these because they offer so much cushion, which really comes in handy for longer runs between 6-10 miles. They are light weight and very comfortable. Although designed for pronation, I like the feel of them.

Priced at $140

Hoka Arahi 6

My Pick: Running Fuel

These have helped me with my endurance and recovery. Before I started researching fueling, and recovery I wouldn’t be able to run for a few days after a long run. Then I would be drained for the whole day too. With running fuel and hydration, I feel great even after a long run.

GU Energy Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gel

Staying hydrated is one of the most important keys to maintaining a good running regiment. When you fuel before during and after you are able to keep your weekly, monthly goals attainable.

Nuun Sport Electrolyte Tablets for Proactive Hydration

Simply put, these help with cramping! I use any pickle juice that I have available to me at home as well.
